DJL Builders set up shop in Plymouth in 1992 and has always been dedicated to customer satisfaction, excellent craftsmanship and building long-lasting relationships in the community and with their clients.

“We have always made it a priority to exceed our clients’ expectations,” said owner Dave Latawiec. “When we started, we were focused more on smaller remodeling projects in the home. Over the years we moved into home additions, whole house remodels and ultimately building new homes. Our current focus is living space renovations, which has been driven by homeowners staying in their homes for a longer period of time. Requests for basement finishing, kitchen remodels, home offices and bathroom updates have been on the rise over the last several years.

“I guess you can say we are going back to our roots,” he added. “Our industry is always evolving and we try to help our clients (new and previous) meet their needs and wants of the modern way of living.”

Latawiec said what makes DJL Builders unique and special is the team they have put together.

“We hear from our clients what a pleasure our team is to work with,” Latawiec said. “And that’s what my son, David Jr. and I strive for and why we work with the same subcontractors we have been using for years. Most have been working with us for a long time and are an important part of our team. The electrician we use has been working with us for over 20 years, and one of our plumbers we have been working with since 1992. We all believe in doing exceptional work with integrity and professionalism.

“My dad taught me the importance of being part of and giving back to the community, whether it is locally or beyond its borders,” Latawiec added.

It can be seen that he follows that lesson by his actions in his local community, sponsoring events such as Plymouth Community Chamber of Commerce Golf outing and its gala, the Kiwanis Golf outing and the Fourth of July Parade, schools, the Historical Museum, First Step and other groups and organizations.

He also gives of his time, and is currently the immediate past-chairman of the Plymouth Community Chamber of Commerce. He sits on the Planning Commission in Plymouth Township and is a former member of the Zoning Board in the city of Plymouth. He has longtime relationships, including holding board positions with organizations such as the local Kiwanis Club, the Salvation Army and the Museum.

What began as a one-man business with a pickup truck is now one of the leading professional design and remodeling teams in the area. Latawiec and his group of professionals bring attention to detail and functional design throughout their home renovation projects.
