Revitalization Possible with Funding from Wayne County and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021

Cherry Hill Village Groundbreaking Canton
Canton Township officials gathered in Cherry Hill Village earlier this summer for a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of the next phase of its $9.5 million development of Canton’s Town Square at Cherry Hill, which will include a variety of improvements and investments in this area that are designed to make this location a regional destination and community gathering space.

This extensive revitalization project will transform this west side neighborhood by incorporating a centralized Town Square, which will feature picturesque grounds, a pedestrian-friendly bridge over a scenic water feature with splash fountains, accessible walking paths, a designated outdoor event venue, and public restrooms.

The next re-imagined area of this multi-faceted project includes the restoration of The Factory at Ridge, located at 50625 Cherry Hill Road, which will become a new community center and future home of programs for therapeutic recreation, teens, arts, health and wellness, and Canton community events; Renovations to Preservation Park, located at 500 N. Ridge Road, will round out this major re-development project, with the addition of a new event pavilion that will house the Canton Farmers Market as well as enhanced greenspace, paths and parking.

Canton Supervisor Anne Marie Graham-Hudak led the festivities, which included special remarks by Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans, as well as U.S. Representative Debbie Dingell. Additional dignitaries in attendance included Terry Campbell, regional manager of the office of U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow; Yosif Hecham, regional coordinator at the office of U.S. Senator Gary Peters; and Michigan State Representative Ranjeev Puri.

“Canton’s Town Square at Cherry Hill is designed to not only bring the entire community together but to also be a regional destination,” said Canton Supervisor Anne Marie Graham-Hudak. “This is not the first groundbreaking in Canton Township in the last three years, and it won’t be the last. Canton’s investment in this area will continue to attract development to the community, creating jobs and growth. The revitalization of this area has been a long time coming and couldn’t have been possible without funding from the American Rescue Plan Act at both the federal and county level.”

Funding for these enhancements comes from the Charter Township of Canton, MI; Wayne County, MI; and appropriations from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021- State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (ARPA/SLFRF).

Many of Canton’s Town Square at Cherry Hill projects are expected to be completed in spring 2025.
