The Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN) marked another milestone by establishing a new destination for integrated behavioral healthcare. On Friday, June 14 DWIHN leadership hosted elected officials and community leaders to break ground on the Seven Mile Behavioral Health Wellness Campus.

“We are excited to expand access to quality care and bring comprehensive integrated physical and mental healthcare to surrounding communities and neighborhoods,” said Eric Doeh, DWIHN president and chief executive officer. “The campus will provide a one-stop shop for all wellness needs in the region.”

The Seven Mile Behavioral Health Wellness Campus was made possible thanks to $60 million in state budgeted grant funding that received bipartisan support. The integrated wellness center will help address disparities in health, access to care in Metro Detroit and will feature suites for physical health, dental and vision care services.

Following the opening of the 32-bed 707 Crisis Care Center in the New Center area, DWIHN will continue to address the short-term bed capacity in the county by adding an additional 52 beds with this new community resource. It will offer a 24/7 walk-in crisis wing serving adults and children, clinical spaces for behavioral health providers to offer care for people with mental illness, substance use disorder and disability-related concerns.

Construction for the 70,000-square-foot Seven Mile Behavioral Health Wellness Campus will take approximately 18 to 24 months to complete and will help bring transformative changes not only to the landscape on W. Seven Mile Road but to the behavioral health community and the lives of the people served.

The Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network is the largest and most diverse Community Mental Health system offering integrated health care in Michigan. Through programs and services that utilize promising best practices we promote a community that is supportive and embraces people with mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities and substance use disorder. We offer help with Infant Mental Health, Supportive Housing, and Recovery to support self-determination and improve the health, safety and quality of life for nearly 123,000 people and their families.
