Owner Rebecca Nicholson said when opening East Elm Kitchen Co., she was determined to create an experience that is very personalized. And nothing says “personalized” more than her introduction on the business’s web site. Before she introduces what is in her store, she introduces herself.

“I'm Rebecca, creator and owner of East Elm Kitchen Co. I'm a wife, dog mom, food enthusiast, and new business owner determined to share with this community my love for all things food, fellowship and hospitality. When people would ask me if I could do anything, what would I do, I would always answer to own my own kitchen store – so we decided in 2022 to go for it.”

Now that we have met Rebecca, let’s meet East Elm Kitchen Co.

“I believe our most significant, memorable moments happen around the table over a shared meal with our loved ones,” she said. “We offer the kitchen products and confidence you need to cook and entertain like a pro.”

At East Elm Kitchen Co., Nicholson has carefully curated a kitchenware collection that will feed your love for all things food.

“We are only 1,000 square feet so we have to be very selective about what we bring in and we are still learning,” she said. “We learn from our customers, whether it’s a brand or a particular product. I wanted brand recognition but also to feature more specialized and unique products that people may not be aware of and you can’t find at a big box store.”

Nicholson, 34, didn’t just jump into the small business world with her eyes closed. She earned an MBA from Michigan State University, worked for more than a decade in the automotive industry and was raised by parents who ran successful small businesses. She also did her due diligence learning from experts in the field and business consultants before opening the doors to East Elm Kitchen Co. in 2023.

Located on vibrant Liberty Street in the heart of Old Village Plymouth, the meticulously renovated and historical space is modern, bright and framed with a stunning brick wall that dates back to the 1880s.

East Elm Kitchen Co. serves up the highest quality home-kitchen products across a range of culinary dimensions, including cookware, bakeware, cutlery, tabletop, barware, coffee tools, and local artisan-made dry goods. The shelves at East Elm Kitchen feature a high-end and diverse selection of brands including Spicewalla from Asheville, N.C.; SMEG’s exquisite range of small appliances from Italy; Ankarsrum’s stand mixer from Sweden; Epicurean cutting boards from Wisconsin; USA Pan bakeware products from Pittsburgh; and many others.

Nicholson fell in love with the Old Village neighborhood when she and her husband moved to the area in 2019, and she is committed to being a good neighbor. In January they held a Knife Sharpening for charity event, where they sharpened over 250 knives and raised $1,800 for Plymouth Community Foster Closet.

Not only are customers noticing East Elm Kitchen Co., but earlier this year the shop was presented the “Rising Star” award during the 2025 HTI industry event in Chicago.

East Elm Kitchen Co. also offers hands-on culinary workshops, where guests learn how to prepare new dishes and sample food or beverages from the class. They also offer next-day, professional knife sharpening starting at just $7 per blade.

East Elm Kitchen Co. is located at 173 W. Liberty Street. Call (734) 666-2929 or visit www.eastelmkitchenco.com for more information.
