It's a whole new year, which may include visualizing new patio furniture – table sets, deep seating, loungers, umbrellas, sectionals, fire pits, Adirondack chairs, and more.
Fortunately, Patio Plus in Northville, a local mom n’ pop business run by the Jacobs family of Plymouth specializing in exceptional customer service, has everything you need. You’ve probably even seen their billboards on the expressway.
“Since opening in March 2004, our goal is to help customers find exactly what they want,” said co-owner Carol Jacobs. “We love meeting you and bringing your dreams to life.”
Patio Plus has over 20 employees, many of whom have been there 10 years or more.
“Our team has the passion and dedication that has helped us build our success with excellent customer service in all areas,” Carol said. “We offer continuous inventory of thousands of items. This patio furniture helps create a welcoming space for your friends and family outside your home. From special occasions to everyday memories, your patio setup is a focal point for gatherings. How you furnish that space matters.”
Patio Plus features some top-selling brands that can help.
“Berlin Gardens is a manufacturer in Ohio,” she said. “Their stuff is poly-turf lumber made with HDPE recycled plastic that resembles woodgrain and is impervious to weather. Pennsylvania’s Alfresco does ornate cast aluminum. Woodard, made in Owosso, Michigan, has been around 150 years. They do extruded aluminum. Telescope Casual has been in New York for over 120 years. All this stuff is built to last. We also sell a lot of resin wicker. And our commercial department outfits golf courses, condos, pool clubs, etc.”
Durability and longevity are primary concerns.
“Great patio furniture is versatile, timeless and it’s also a long-term investment,” Carol said. “It should have a 15- to-20-plus-year lifespan, along with an excellent warranty. We also offer Stack and Wrap, a shrink-wrapping winterization service, where we come to your house and encapsulate your furniture in plastic for the winter.”
Patio furniture is functional, stylish and customizable.
“You can do anything you want nowadays,” Carol said. “People love accessorizing their furniture with fluffy pillows, comfy cushions, other items. You can get bright fabrics. You can also test the furniture out in-store. You can see, feel and sit in it. Custom orders take six-to-eight weeks, it’s a 50 percent deposit, then 50 percent upon delivery.”
The Jacobs also own Palm Beach Patio in Waterford.
“We took over there in 2013,” Carol said. “We offer personalized service at both locations. Unlike our two stores, there are large national chains but they do not have the same expertise, customer service or connection to the local community that we do. Ken and I have been married since 1988. We both grew up in Livonia and we’ve kept our business local right here in Michigan.”
Has it been 20 or so years since you’ve updated your patio set? Do you not yet own any patio furniture? Drop by Patio Plus to review your options.
“Our busiest months are April-June but we’re here for you all year-round,” she said. “Come on out and see what we have for you.”
