Fall is the most beautiful time of the year in Michigan to get outdoors and explore. West Bloomfield Parks offers many opportunities for you to create connections with nature, with friends, with family and with other members of the community. Below are just a few of the programs we’re offering this fall:

#1 Take a Naturalist-guided Tour of Diehl’s Orchard (ages 50+)

Join a naturalist on this orchard adventure at Diehl's Orchard in Holly on Tuesday, September 10. This field trip includes an educational session with time for Q & A, a walking tour of the facility and a hayride. Transportation from the Recreation Activities Center is included.

#2 Learn to Play Pickleball (ages 18+)

Are you wondering what all the craze over pickleball is about? Sign up for an introductory clinic at Drake Sports Park this fall to learn the terminology, the rules and basic skills. Pickleball 100 clinics take place on Monday and Thursday evenings throughout September.

#3 Group Hayrides (all ages)

Bring 30 of your closest friends on a beautiful fall hayride at Marshbank Park. Hayrides take place on October 10, 11, 17 and 18, starting at 5 pm. Your registration fee includes cider, donuts and four picnic blankets. We also offer community hayrides for those who want to share the experience with new friends.

#4 Corncob Campfire (ages 5+)

Roast corn on the cob over an open fire. This family event includes a cozy campfire, hot cider and Halloween music. It takes place on Friday, October 25 at 6 p.m. outside of the Recreation Activities Center.

#5 Astronomy Hike (ages 13+)

Come experience the Civic Center Trails after dark on Thursday, November 14 at 7 p.m. The Oakland Astronomy Club will bring telescopes for viewing Saturn, Jupiter and more.

#6 Honey Sommelier Tasting (ages 21+)

Join us for a delightful honey tasting event hosted by Bees in the D's founders and American Honey Tasting Society trained honey sommeliers. Each honey will be thoughtfully paired with complementary accompaniments, small bites and a honey-themed, non-alcoholic cocktail creating a harmonious blend of tastes. This event takes place at Marshbank Park on Saturday, November 16.

#7 Mother and Son Dance (ages 1+) Moms, join us for an upscale night out with your favorite young man. Our High Tops & High Heels dance takes place on Friday, November 22, at Glen Oaks Golf Course. It includes dinner, dancing and activity stations. Dress to impress!
