EAI, a nonprofit mental health organization assisting those in the community with vocational rehabilitation and adult day-care needs, has launched a shredding business to provide adults with intellectual disabilities more ways to get out in the community and earn money.

“Our goal is always to find ways in which they can engage in employment of some type,” said Dr. Kevin Sloan, vice president/COO of EAI. “They enjoy making money, and it’s normalizing for them to be out.”

Located in a 9,000-square-foot facility on Ecorse Road in Taylor, EAI has been offering community-based services to adults and seniors in Western Wayne County and the Downriver communities since 1996. It serves about 40 seniors and 80-90 adults with disabilities, many of whom come two or three times a week to take advantage of EAI’s services and programs.

Dr. Sloan said that they are also looking for ways they can partner with other organizations to provide even more opportunities for their clients.

Businesses looking to avail EAI of its shredding services, or potential partners interested in teaming up to provide more services can contact Dr. Kevin Sloan at (313) 291-2713 or by emailing ksloan@eaicorp1.com.

EAI, located at 23015 Ecorse Road in Taylor, is open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
