Jennifer Zagon and her husband Bill moved to Novi with their three sons in the summer of 2017. The main reason for their move was for the educational opportunities the school district provided for their two youngest sons, so it’s a bonus that the family loves living in the city they call home.

“Our neighborhood has a park, lake and nearby woods,” Zagon said. “My neighbors see me walking on a daily basis.”

Health and wellness have always been at the forefront of Zagon’s life. For 20 years she practiced as a physical therapist assistant in outpatient orthopedic clinics and went on to pursue her holistic health coaching certification, which brought big changes to her lifestyle and career.

In 2007, Zagon’s own family health journey ignited her passion for holistic health and wellness. She spent many years dealing with seasonal allergies, asthma and sometimes anxiety and skin issues like eczema. Her middle son was also diagnosed with autism after his third birthday.

“My son was the catalyst to start asking questions about our health,” Zagon said. “I began asking questions versus taking what I was being told as our only option.”

After their dissatisfaction with what traditional medicine offered, Zagon and her husband found a medical doctor operating in his own integrative medical clinic to support their son through his health journey. She also started focusing on nutrition, environmental toxins and ingredients in products her family used in their home.

“What I learned was alarming, and a huge takeaway was that we need to be our own advocates when it comes to our health and the health of our family,” Zagon said.

She became an “ingredient detective” and spent hours reading about food additives, looking for recipes and making meals and baked goods from scratch, gradually implementing changes into her family’s life. She noted that a gradual approach was the key to her success and ability to make sustainable change.

In February 2020, after spending so many years doing her own research, Zagon decided to further her education and became a certified holistic health coach. She has one certification as a holistic nutritionist and one as a health and wellness coach.

When she graduated in December 2020, she was unsure of how she would move forward, especially during the peak COVID era, where so much was unknown. In April 2021, she decided it was time to share what she knew with the world and started her first business, Holistic Evolution with Jen, LLC. As a holistic health coach, Zagon helps others develop sustainable habits that serve their health in a positive way.

As her holistic journey continued, she started making some of her own personal care products, such as sunscreen, deodorant, toothpaste and body cream. In February 2023, Zagon and her sister started a skin and body care business, called Good & Simple, and launched a capsule line of tallow and emu oil balms made with clean and wholesome ingredients.

Zagon enjoys spending time with her family and dog, Chloe, and loves spending time in nature. She discovered her passion for gardening when moving to Novi and now grows her own produce.
